Choosing a celebrant - how to find the right person for you!
Everyone knows that your ceremony will be the centre of your wedding.
After all, it’s where your day starts, it sets the tone for your party, but most importantly of all – it’s where you finally get to marry the person you love the most!
That means at its heart, your ceremony should be all about the 2 of you, and telling your story. To do that, you need to find the person who’s the right fit for you both. But how do you find them? And more importantly – how do you know they’re the right one for you?
Define your vibe
It all starts with thinking about what you want from your day. Ask yourself – what’s the feeling you’re after? Relaxed, romantic, fun, emotional? Or are you after something a bit more formal and traditional? Are there customs you want to include, or fresh ideas you’d like to explore? Do you want to maybe create something new and unique for you and your partner?
Whatever it is, knowing the vibe that you’re after – for your guests, but mostly, the two of you! – is really important.
Have a chat!
Instagram, photos, reviews, videos - they’re all awesome – but they don’t give you the same insight as actually talking to your potential celebrant.
Make the time to catch up – in person, or over Facetime, and see if you connect. From both sides, it’s so important that the fit feels right, and you want to know you’re working with someone who gets you, and is going to be the right one for you!
Don’t be afraid to ask a lot of questions
After all, this person is going to get you married! And you need to know whether the person you’re thinking of choosing will be able to help you create a unique, gorgeous ceremony that does your relationship justice. Not just that, but if they’ll support you along the way, and be there to help with anything else you need?
Trust me, it’s vital to find someone whose willingness and personality perfectly matches your own. You’ve already found your partner in life – now think of this as dating part 2… but for your celebrant!
What you want, is someone that will become your bestie, communicate clearly and work passionately on tailoring a bespoke ceremony.
Trust your gut
After a while, you’ll just know who’ll deliver an awesome experience. It’s a feeling you’ll get, and there’ll be no doubt that they’ll want to get to know you both, help you with your vows and be creative enough to come up with something unique for the ceremony as a whole!
And of course – they’ll be there not just for that, but also (if you want the good vibes to continue right up to the end of the night) – for the party too, as your MC and party pal.
